  May 25, 2010 – A passenger train derails at Naugachia, injuring eleven people
  May 28, 2010 – A train derails in the West Midnapore district of West Bengal, India, caused by either sabotage or a bomb that damaged the railway track, and is struck by an oncoming goods train, resulting in at least 90 passenger deaths.

  June 6, 2010 – A passenger train collides with boulders that had fallen on the line near Falls of Cruachan, derails and catches fire. Several people are hospitalised and the line is blocked for a week.
  June 18, 2010 – Eight coaches and two engines of the Vasco-Howrah Amaravati Express (8048) derail near Koppal in Karnataka, India after the train strikes a road roller at an unmanned level-crossing. Six persons, including the drivers of the road roller and the train, are injured.

  July 19, 2010 – At least 63 people die and over 150 are injured when the Uttar Banga Express is involved in a rear end collision with the stationary Vananchal Express at Sainthia railway station, West Bengal.
  August 17, 2010 – Four people die in a train accident on the Faizabad-Lucknow rail-section at Goryamau railway station of Barabanki district located between Rudauli and Rozagaon towns.

  August 25, 2010 – A Metrorail commuter train strikes a minibus taxi carrying children to school. Ten are killed and five injured in this train accident. Witnesses state that the minibus drove around closed booms; the driver is charged with culpable homicide.
  September 12, 2010 – A woman dies, two people are seriously injured, and 15 more are brought to hospital with minor injuries, after an X2000 high speed train collides with a backhoe loader at Kimstad near Linkรถping.

  September 20, 2010 – 34 die and over 160 are injured when a speeding freight going towards Indore, Madhya Pradesh rear-ends a stationary Indore - Gwalior Intercity Express at Badarwas, Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh. The locomotive of the Intercity Express remained on the same place and the coaches behind it jumped over it. Preliminary reports indicate that the freight, traveling at 95 km/h (59 mph), overshot the signal and the pointsman was unable to divide the loop line from the main line, putting the freight on the same line where the Intercity train was standing.

  September 24, 2010 – At least 6 people are injured when the engine and a bogie of the Kasganj-Lucknow train derails near Kasganj railway station at 5:30 am while passing through a culvert near Kasganj in Kanshi Ram Nagar district.

  January 1, 2011 – Amritsar-Sealdah Akaltakth Express strikes two trucks in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur district when the truck driver "failed to notice" the red signal at a level crossing at Babura railway crossing, killing a man (a truck driver) and leaving two people (another truck driver and a helper) injured. No passengers are injured in the collision.

  January 3, 2011 – Four wagons of a goods train derail in the Dadri area of Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The goods train is going towards Aligarh from Delhi when the mishap occurred. No one is injured in the accident. Train traffic on the Ghaziabad-Aligarh section on the Delhi-Howrah trunk route is disrupted following the derailment.

  July 10, 2011 – Kalka Mail running from Howrah to Delhi derails near the town of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, killing more than 70 people.
