Biography of APJ Abdul Kalam or Essay For Class 6

An eminent scientist and the Missileman of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam was born on Oct 15, 1931, in Dhanushkodi, Ramanathapuram district of India. He was born in a Muslim Family.

He developed the early passion in flight after watching the flying birds that's why he wanted to become a fighter plane pilot in his childhood. He has the deep interest in Science and Mathematics. He earned the engineering degree in Aeronautics from Madras Institute of Technology. Dr. Kalam worked as a senior scientific assistant in Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in the year 1958 before joining the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in 1969.

Dr. Kalam also served as the 11th President of India when he wins the election against Lakshmi Sahgal under ruling party National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the year 2002. He holds the ceremonial post of President until 2007. Before leaving his office, he also became the visiting professor in many universities. Even he died doing the same what he did throughout his career. India owes its development in the nuclear sector only due to Mr. Kalam when he provided the great technical support for Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 after Pokhran-I in the year 1974.

He was awarded as a Bharat Ratna in the year 1997, Padma Vibhushan in 1990 and Padma Bhushan in 1981. Apart from this, Dr. Kalam was also awarded Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration in the year 1997, Ramanujan Award in the year 2000, King Charles II Medal in the year 2007. He died on Jul 27, 2015, at the age of 83 due to the Cardiac Arrest.
