The airline operates services to over 1 300 destinations and reaches a total of 65 million passengers every year. The airline was launched in 1961 and since then has emerged as one of the leaders in the industry. The airline owns a fleet of more than 200 aircraft and has a reputation for offering the highest quality services.

Rivalries between Air India and Indian Airlines:

Indian and Air India were once rivals in domestic flights but they have now become one of the major competitors in the sector. The airline has made a good mark in the industry with its inexpensive fares. This is because of the quality of the services offered and also because of the lack of competition in the domestic flight market.
