The 15th August is a red-letter day in Indian history. It is on this day in 1947 that we were free from bondage of British rule. Since then every year, this day is observed as Independence Day.
This Independence  day is celebrated with pump and pleasure in our school. On this day we go to school early in the morning beautifully dressed and stand in rows in the school campus, which is nicely decorated with small flags. The head master hoists the National
Flag. Then we salute the flag. A band of musician sings the national song ‘Janganmana’ and we join them . Soon after the NCC cadets march past with the drums beating. Sweets are distributed among the students on the  occasion to enjoy the Independence Day.
Then a function is held in the big hall of our school. It includes patriotic songs speeches. The speakers remember the great martyrs and freedom-fighters who sacrificed their lives for achieving independence and pay homage to them. They call upon us to follow their ideals.
